Our Little Free Library

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Little Free Library, a charming book-sharing space right here at our funeral home in Ayr. That’s right, amidst the quiet contemplation and support we offer to families, we’re also fostering community, a love of reading and everyday moments of connection, which help us feel happier and less lonely.

How does it work?

It’s simple! Drop by our funeral home, browse our selection of books, and take one home to enjoy. When you’re finished, return it or bring another book to share. It’s a wonderful way to discover new stories, rediscover old favourites, and contribute to a growing community of book lovers.

Why a Little Free Library at a funeral home?

Funeral homes are often seen as places of sadness, but for us, they are a place of comfort, reflection, and connection with the community. Books have the power to transport us to different worlds, to inspire us, and to comfort us. More than that, though, we believe that sharing books is a way to people together, even in times of sorrow. Chronic loneliness is one of the biggest health concerns we face, and it’s on the rise. By supporting our Little Free Library, you’ll help us reach even more people, raise more awareness and create a happier, less lonely society.

Ron Swanson of Ayrshire Hospice popped in yesterday to donate a bundle of books to help get us going.

We cannot do this without all the support of the individuals and organisations who get involved, so thank you so much!
